The Important Dates Filter allows you to filter by dates and ranges of the following: Baptism, Birthday, Service Schedules, First Visit, Marriage, Membership, Record Created
Filtering by Important Dates in Waypoint
The Important Date filter lets you find records based on any date field you track — Baptism, Birthday, Confirmed Service Schedule, First Visit, Marriage, Membership, Record Created, Service Schedule, and any custom Important Dates you've set up.
This article explains what each filter operator does, how rolling date ranges behave, and how weekly filters define a week.
How to use the filter- Choose the Important Date type you want to filter on (e.g., Baptism, Membership).
- Choose a filter operator (e.g., Is After, Is in the Range).
- Depending on the operator, enter a specific date, a date range, or a rolling number of Days/Weeks/Months/Years.
- Click Save.

For operators like Is in the Last, Is in the Next, Is in the Previous, and Is in the Current, you'll choose a number and a unit of time. For example: "Is in the Next 16 Days" or "Is in the Current Week."
How a "week" is defined
Weekly filters use a Monday–Sunday week, rather than the more common Sunday–Saturday convention, to keep a single weekend's Saturday and Sunday services in the same week.
NOTE: Most churches hold services on Saturday and/or Sunday. If Waypoint used a Sunday-start week, a Saturday service and the Sunday service immediately after it would fall into two different "weeks," which would split what most churches consider a single weekend of services. By using a Monday–Sunday week, Waypoint keeps Saturday and Sunday in the same week, making weekend-based reporting and filtering more accurate.
Example: If today is Wednesday, August 5, "Is in the Current Week" will match anything from Monday, August 3 through Sunday, August 9 — including both weekend services.
How Months and Years work
- Months follow calendar months (e.g., "Is in the Previous Month" from a date in August matches July 1–31).
- Years follow calendar years (e.g., "Is in the Current Year" matches January 1–December 31 of this current year).
Tips
- Use Is Set / Is Not Set to quickly find records missing key information, like members without a recorded Baptism date.
- Combine Is in the Range with other filters to build targeted lists — for example, everyone whose Membership date falls in a specific set of months.
- Rolling filters (Last/Next) are great filters to reuse often, since they automatically stay current — you won't need to update the date each time.
